FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Indivisible Topeka Endorses Braeden Curwick for Kansas House District 56, Announces Fundraisers and Kansas Legislative Accountability Project

Indivisible Topeka has announced its endorsement of Braeden Curwick in the Democratic primary for Kansas House District 56.  "This was a carefully weighed decision, an endorsement is more than words on paper, it's meaningful support, and Braeden is worth sweat equity," says Ellen Johnson, lead organizer for Indivisible Topeka. Co-lead, Jeffery Mayer of Topeka says "I am impressed with his focus and dedication to union rights and improving opportunities for home ownership for younger people."

There will be a public meeting of Indivisible Topeka on Monday, July 6, via ZOOM and in-person at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library in the Menninger Room (206) from eight pm to eight forty-five pm.  Indivisible Topeka invites members of the public to attend and learn about the mission, current projects, and upcoming  trainings offered by the national Indivisible organization.

"I am most enthused about doing the work to kick off fundraisers to print leavingmaga.org yard signs and a detention facility conditions reporting hotline. We also plan on talking about holding our Kansas Senate leadership accountable for prioritizing the Trump Agenda over the safety of Kansas children by stalling on the clergy reporting mandate for child sex abuse, House Bill 2352, which died on the senate side after passing the House with 111 votes in favor of the bill. That has me steamed," said Johnson.

"We need to come together accross the state for this, so I hope to see people come in on Zoom from everywhere in Kansas, really."

Leavingmaga.org is a group of former MAGA activists that help people leave MAGA and reconcile with friends and family they alienated, and develops movement leadership to help others leave MAGA. Leaving MAGA does not print or sell yard signs, but has given Indivisible Topeka its blessing to print yard signs with the Leaving MAGA logo and url.

There is a donations page up and running at indivisibletopeka.org, which can help support general operations and the yard sign project, however until there is a separate fundraiser for the hotline, Johnson and Mayer urge those who want to donate to that project to donate to the Carceral Accountability Council, a separate organization Johnson has worked with in the past, instead, by mailing a check or money order to Carceral Accountability Council,  P.o. box 16, Leavenworth, Ks 66048.
